New CXDev Toolbox Tool: Metadata Explorer

Ever need to quickly look up the labels, descriptions, column names, or field types in your Oracle Service Cloud database? How about the ID’s and Labels of menu fields? Are you saying that you haven’t memorized that the contact’s primary email address uses a menu ID of “0” and label of “Email - Primary” and that the mobile phone selection has a “ID” of “1” and a label of “Mobile Phone”?

You aren’t alone! We have worked on Oracle Service Cloud (and before that, RightNow) for over a decade and we still have to double check field names and lookup ID/values.

We recognize the struggle and have created a new CXDev Toolbox tool to solve the problem: the “Metadata Explorer”.

The Metadata Explorer provides lightening fast access to your site’s database and field details like never before. The initial release of this tool is simple; all objects and field details are listed in a table. Most fields that are a Named ID have an option to view the valid IDs and associated Labels for that field. (Note: Some Lookup Names/IDs are not available from the API. Example: AccountSessionHistory.Status. When an item is not available, an error is shown in the application status bar).

This is the beta release of the tool to gather feedback and identify desired features. Use the survey link below to indicate what enhancements would be valuable to you.

The new release and tool will automatically be pushed to users over the next few days. If you haven’t installed the new CXDev Toolbox (v3), get the new version today from cxdevtoolbox.com.

Happy Monday and happy CXing.
