Controlling the IE Rendering Mode in a Browser Control

The "Browser" workspace control available when configuring agent workspaces is a powerful feature that enables some really interesting customization and integration options. For those unfamiliar with the "Browser" control, this component allows you to embed an HTML page into a workspace. Besides exposing an API for passing workspace field values at runtime via URL templating, there is also a JavaScript based API for communication between the host workspace and the client webpage.

WebComponents/Polymer and Syndicated ConditionalChatLink Compatibility?

Our custom site is built with Polymer (0.5 upgrading soon to 1.0). We're trying to use the Syndicated ConditionalChatLink widget but it seems they are not compatible. It appears when RightNow.Client.js calls document.getElementById("myChatLink") to initialize onclick event handlers nothing is returned because Polymer's shady/shadow DOM effectively hides it.

Chat persistence and embedded

I wanted to ask a question about a new functionality I am working on. We would like to embed the RightNow Chat into an iFrame window on our main site. We need the chat to be able to rebuild itself on any pages on our site. I have been reading the Chat.Communicator.js, Chat.Model.js, Chat.Controller.js, and the Chat.UI.js files to understand how the system treats closing the window, disconnections, reconnections.

Display total count of incidents in "pending"...

Hi All,

I have a requirement to create an incident report based on the below conditions with these columns
1.Date/time
2.Reference number
3.Carry over
4.Incident Created
5.Total Created Incident
6.Closed Status
7.Pending status

In the attached report image, I am getting the total count of "closed" and "pending" status of daily created incident.

I want to display the total count of the "pending status" of previous created date in the next column of carry over column(Variable)

cURL and Async CPMs

If you are using cURL in an asynchronous CPM to post data to an external endpoint, beware. Calling the \load_curl() method will usually load the cURL library, unless the back-end SPM process that runs your particular instance of the CPM already loaded the library! In this case the CPM will fail, in what appears to be an inconsistently reproducible way.

Get in the habit of wrapping your \load_curl() method like this:

if (!function_exists("\curl_init"))
{
    \load_curl();
}

Customizing the Chat States of the Syndicated Conditional Chat widget

For many customers, the default chat service States displayed by the Oracle Service Cloud Syndicated Conditional Chat widget do not meeting their business needs. A common desire is to have the chat link be available, even if all agent's are busy. This gives the user a chance to wait in the queue if they want.

This can be done easily by setting the 'min_sessions_avail' setting to 0, and the 'wait_threshold' setting to a very high value. I usually put it at 1 day by setting it to 86400 seconds.

Security Vulnerabilites in Customer Portal pagesets

If your Customer Portal site has a "mobile" or "basic" directory and associated pages in your "views/pages" directory your site might be at risk; especially if you don't use these pages! For nearly all sites created since the release of CP2, this will be the case unless you've taken manual steps to remove them.

Workspace Fields, the better way?

As already discussed in an article here, the lack of a Field Addin type for workspaces is a bit of a miss. WIth that in mind I dug around a little bit to see if I could get some existing RN classes / Interfaces called in my Workspace addin to get the automatic resizing behavior of the label and the field. After determining which controls were available in all RN dll's, by simpy adding all dll's in the RN folder using the Choose Toolbox items command. After inspecting which controls were returned there were 2 namespaces of interest;
